stickam:

A note from all of us at Stickam to our friends:
We were here.  We did this.  Actually YOU were here, and you did this.   Stickam was always about you, not “about us,” like most websites.   And we appreciate you all, so so much.
After seven wonderful years we are incredibly sad to have to say goodbye.   We did everything we could to keep this dream alive, but unfortunately you are reading this message.
When Stickam launched in 2005 we were the very first website devoted to live streaming, user generated video and chat. There was no blueprint, no roadmap to follow.   We didn’t know where you would take us.
From the early days of the live community, “Stickam stars” started to emerge… Ibot, Gay God, Kiki Kannibal… Scene kids and scene bands… And then the wonderful Stu Stone and Jamie Kennedy and others came in, and the first regular, produced, live weekly shows on Stickam— the first on the Internet—began and flourished.
We started producing our own content from clubs and venues all over LA whenever we could.  We launched our own weekly show Streaming The Cube to celebrate our community.
Daily and weekly shows from G4 TV, Andrew W.K., B-Real, Jake Fogelnest, DJ Rossstar, Allstar Weekend, Guys from Queens, Hank and Jim and so many others followed.  We were privileged to present annual unprecedented live coverage of events like Vans Warped Tour, NATPE, SXSW and the Cinefamily telethons.  We were honored to power six years of Myles Dyer’s incredible Stickaid and so many other worthy causes.  We were also proud to produce and host “Stickam Live For Japan” to help raise money for victims of the tsunami with your help.  So many community members came out to lend support to the broadcast that night at The Roxy, including Stu Stone, Cypress Hill, Black Veil Brides, Chantal Claret and James Urine, Mr. Let’s Paint TV, and Sam Proof, and so many more joined via remote.
Just late last year we launched the Stickam Studios at Meltdown with great friends and partners like TheOneRing.net, Iheartcomix, the NerdTerns and MeltCast.  We were there for the special night with Die Antwoord and with Tavi Gevinson, and chats with Hollywood Undead and New Years Day and Escape The Fate.   We continued to stream the cube.
We are incredibly grateful to all the Stickam members and viewers, to all the bands and artists, the radio stations, the regular shows and the deer. Thank you for making this a wonderful place for seven years.  Thank you all.  We will miss the Stickam community.
The site will remain alive here until February 28, 2013.  We encourage you to log in and download any of your live recordings or other media you wish to save.
Sincerely,
All your friends at Stickam

The Slum Dwelling Flower Girl

There was once a Flower Girl dwelling in the Slums
Most people don’t know her name
But she was the most beautiful woman I ever layed eyes on
Her Long Auburn hair flows down her back.
Her eyes Green, and Full of life like the Forest
Her Smile can melt even the coldest of Hearts.
She always tends Flowers at the local church
And she always gets upset whenever someone steps on the Flowers.
Whatever Happened to her you ask?
I’m not sure, to be honest
Last I heard she left the city to see the world
One story tells that she eventually found out more about her heritage
Another story tells that she tragically passed away at an early age
Either way I’m not sure what she’s up to now.
But I’m sure somewhere she’s out there tending flowers, making new friends and greeting people with a smile.
She may never come back to this Hellish dump of a city but she wiil still be in the slum church in spirit
When you see her tell me everything about the The Slum-Dwelling Flower Girl

Tower of Heaven Review

The New Year has rung in for me. To celebrate, I’ve decided to go watch a friend’s Stream of a Flash game called tower of heaven. Intrigued, I’ve decided to try it out for myself. I am very glad I did. This game is fun, simple, and addictive.

Story:
The Story Begins with the Protagonist, a young traveler who I found out through research is named Eid(This will be important to the game folks), who stumbles upon The Titular Tower of Heaven. He is Greeted by God, Who Doesn’t want Eid to climb his Tower, In fact he does Everything in his power to prevent Eid from climbing The Tower, by Adding Rules that Eid Must Abide by in order to avoid being Smited. The Higher Eid climbs, The angrier and more desperate God gets, and the more rules God Makes to Halt Eid’s Progress in the tower.

These Rules Are:
Thou Shalt Not Touch Gold Blocks
Thou Shalt Not Touch Blocks or Walls By their side
Thou Shalt Not walk Left(Yes You Heard Right, You will get KILLED BY WALKING LEFT!)
Thou Shalt Not touch a Living Thing
Thou Shalt Not Look at the Rule Book(Wow… God must’ve been REAL desperate)

After That “Brief” Summary, I have to say I love the Story. It’s one of the few times I enjoyed the story and the twist that comes with it.

Controls:
The Controls are Simple: Use the Arrow Keys to Move Left and Right and Space or the Up Arrow to jump. The Controls are precise and Eid has that Right Kind of Floatiness to him. His Control in the air is pretty good.

Graphics:
The Graphics are very Game Boy-esque and Has that Old School Feel to them Except for the End Credits. The Environments and Eid Himself are Very Detailed.

Soundtrack:
What can I say about the soundtrack? It’s Amazing. Flashygoodness Captured the mood of the Game. The Music is Catchy. Most of the songs are a Variation of one theme, but they do such a good job of not being repetitive. I suggest you Listen to Atop the World. I swear you will catch the Feels. If you have At least a Dollar to spare, I recommend Buying the Soundtrack. Please for the Love of god Don’t Download it from Youtube.

Difficulty:
HOOO BOY! Ok Here’s where I’d Probably Debunk the Score a little. There is a Reason the The creators of the game called the main character Eid. It’s a Reflection of what you will Experience During the Latter Half of the game, Namely Level 6 and Level 9. See, as I mentioned earlier, the farther you reach in the game the more rules the game throws at you. The first two rules are simple, Don’t Touch the Gold Blocks, and Don’t Touch Blocks and walls from the sides. But once you get to Level 6… The Stage starts out simple The Goal is Right there too, but then God decides to be a Dick and Give you another rule. THOU SHALT NOT WALK LEFT! O_o
Oh my GOD is this rule insane! Most of the time There are Parts in this game that require me to go LEFT. while yes this is just me Over exaggerating abit, but By the time I get to this stage Walking Left Felt Natural to me, and for the game to pull a Fast one and add a rule where you’re basically Smited for WALKING LEFT! This REALLY bites me in the ass in Level 9 where I unconsciously walk left! Speaking of Level 9, This stage is Fucking Frustrating to say the least. You will want to kill every butterfly after you’re done with this level. EVERY Butterfly! Play these 2 Stages for yourself to see what I mean.
Other than That, This is a Pretty Tame Difficulty. Frustration from Level’s 6 and 9 aside, I find myself Actually wanting to beat the stages. It’s Hard, but not THAT hard.

Replay Factor:
Tower of Heaven is a game that has a few things that would keep me going again. First there’s the Speedrun Mode where the player gets the chance to see How Fast they complete the game. Level Creator Gives Players the chance to make their own Levels. And There are secrets you can collect in the game

Closing:
Tower of Heaven May Fall under the Platformer Hell Genre, but please don’t let that scare you from playing an amazing game. Simple controls, retro graphics, a kickass soundtrack, and challenging difficulty Makes Tower of Heaven A Must-Play flash game. This is The Gaming Silhouette Signing off.

P.S. Vekky, this one’s for you and I hope you Kick Level 9 in it’s ass one day ;)
